秋元哲夫，日本质子线第一人，粒子线医学领域开发长，日本国立癌症研究中心东医院放射线治疗科长，东京女子医科大学客座教授，是日本放疗届国宝级名医！一直致力于放射线治疗以及粒子线治疗的临床试验、化学放射线疗法、调强放射线治疗的研究。

在癌症的放射线治疗和粒子线治疗领域，秋元教授同时也是国际学术界重量级领导人，发表了诸多非常有价值的学术论文，为众多癌症患者带来了福音。当前的主要研究方向是质子射线治疗的相关技术，使用质子射线的临床试验，以及高精度放射线治疗。
